Wendy LLoyd was our speaker on
9th October 2018 -
Wendy is a mixed media artist and teacher working in Newbury, West Berkshire. Although I spent most of my working life in retail buying, I have been involved in art and textiles from childhood and over the last few years this has become an all-absorbing obsession.
I use a wide range of mixed media and textile techniques including print, collage, painting, stitch, distressing and feltmaking. My work is inspired by the landscapes of the Middle East, West Berkshire where I live and the Lake District where I was born. Recent work has focused on sources as various as trees, life drawings of hands and abstracted views from above including water, earth from space and pavements.
Carol Waddle - Art on the Rocks
10th July Meeting 7:30 to 9.00pm
I love landscapes and mountainous regions and having hiked extensively in the UK and the National Parks of SW America and discovered the Rock Art and artefacts of the people who once inhabited the canyons, I have a wealth of imagery upon which to draw for my work. Photography is usually my starting point, then drawing from which to develop ideas for my work which ranges from felted hangings, experimental tapestry weaving, hand/machine stitching to beading and wire-work. I often combine different techniques/media to create sculptural 3D pieces or as a textural base to stitch into.
Also we have our 2nd Hand stitch workshop from 6:15 to 7:15pm see our home page for details.

Painting the Town - Anne Hellyer
Sorry the workshop has sold out
I love paint and I love textiles and I combine the two in my work.
I hand paint all the fabric I use and then print the finer details, and embellish with machine stitch. Each piece is individually designed,
I create work that is flexible - able to change location as the mood takes you!
To that end each piece is self supporting. They do not require frames - can be either free standing or wall mounted - manipulated into a shape or hung "flat.
