Our work in celebration of the 300th Anniversary of Capablity Brown is now on display. Together with several other Branches we are exhibiting work inspired by the wonderful lanscape he made at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. We owe a big thank you to Blenheim Palace for welcoming us as part of their celebrations.
Congratulations everyone on a successful exhibition as part of the Cookham and Maidenhead Arts Trail on 19 & 20 September. We had 200 visitors to our Members' Exhibition in Nicholson's Walk in Maidenhead
We shared the pop up shop, kindly provided by the management of Nicholson's Walk shopping centre, with watercolourist Martin Dutton. Arrangements to use an empty shop free of charge went down almost to the wire but it was well worth the effort. Visitors saw a wonderful range of work featuring different techniques. The special attraction of the exhibition was a wonderful dislay of 'Wellington's Wellies'. Members were given a welly to embellish with embroidery to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. I hope Wellington would have enjoyed the enhancements to his footwear although I doubt he could have worn any of them as they were all size 4. A huge thank you goes out to those members who helped set up and steward the exhibition and of course to those who entered their wonderful work.
Four members went to Ray Mill Island at Boulter's Lock, Maidenhead, to stitch in the sun. We took up a spot near the entrance to the park and got to stitching. It was a little chilly and some threatening clouds appeared but we stayed dry. We enjoyed ourselves talking to the public passing by, eating some delicious cake made by Morag and, of course, stitching. It really was a lovely few hours and we're keen to do it again soon.
