Inspiring Speakers & workshops

Carol Waddle

Such great inspiration from Carol's  "Art on the Rocks" showed how she translated her images and feelings for the subject into her textile art.

The June  Meeting was a great success.

The launch of our "Hand Stitch" workshops led by Debbie Goddard teaching and presenting the huge diversity of the humble running stitch......

Followed by Caroline Bell  with her beautiful eco dyed printed pieces- [note the use of the running stitch]

Textiles are such a creative medium to work with  - come and join us to find out more.

Anne Hellyer's  workshop in June proved very popular.

The theme of "Painting the Town " produced some beautiful results of a wrapped 3D buildings by the students.

Our Speaker Anne Sillifant - An obession with Trees  May 2018

Drawing and printmaking helps me to explore the interesting surface qualities of natural forms, both in the landscape and in found objects such as shells and fossils.

I enjoy stitching freely into paper and drawing with the sewing machine. My current work involves constructing layered mixed media backgrounds for stitch. These are combined with soluble machine embroidery to form vessels and relief panels. Silk paper is also used as a background for stitch.

Our speaker in April 2018
